Holy One of God, you are the alpha and the omega. Your Spirit-breathed Scriptures begin with the wedding of Adam and Eve in the garden. You speak of the relationship between Israel and the Father as one of betrothal. You give examples throughout your Word and emphasize the sanctity and importance of doing marriage according to the Master’s plan. Lord. Then you end the Bible, describing the marriage supper of the Lamb and the Bride of Christ. Help us to revere your teaching. Help us to grasp the weightiness and gravity of uniting in marriage and uniting with Christ. Forgive me, Father, I didn’t get it and messed it all up. Thank you for pulling me out of the pit of my failures. You redeemed my past and renewed my spirit and hope. Help me help others learn from my mistakes. Help me point them to the greatest relationship of all, that with Jesus. Show us the way to prepare for the wedding supper of the Lamb. Let us be ready for that final celebration of unity. I pray in the name and authority of Jesus, the Christ, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.

“‘Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his Bride has made herself ready;
it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure’—
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
And the angel said to me, ‘Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’ And he said to me, ‘These are the true words of God’.” (Revelation 19:7-9 ESV)
