Father, seems like yesterday that I called you the God of grace and salvation. We work so hard to earn your favor and grace, yet we have it backwards. You poured out your grace in Jesus, your Son, full of grace and truth. Lord, as we seek to gain favor through works, remind us of our backwardness. Pour out your grace on our communities as we work, teach us that you already gave us merit and standing through Jesus. Point us to the saving grace of Jesus. Forgive our errant thought that we earn, then you give. Your truth says you give salvation and grace freely, and we give works of gratitude in return. I praise you in the name and authority of Jesus, who came to make that possible, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17 ESV)
