A mediation meeting in the personal injury case against Steve Wingfield and FCCF/Christ First is set for April, 2023. I’ll be going through my previous posts to bring you up to speed on the story line. You can keep up with court dates with this link:

Lawsuits and loss of employment become weapons in the arsenal of those who fear exposure. I see this tactic everywhere in today’s headlines. It reminds me of the verse in Isaiah, “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter.” (Isaiah 59:14 ESV) There was no transparency or truth from the FCCF/Christ First leadership. There was a power play that blew up. Where was the justice for the victims? Where was the compassion for them? FCCF/Christ First put together a ‘plan’ to make counseling available, but nothing came of it, because the minister they chose to start their questionable counseling process was fired, too.

From the book:

“The college feared loss of income from prominent area churches because of the exposure. First Christian Church was one of the largest donors to SLCC. Another church in south St. Louis was led by Steve Wingfield’s brother, who threatened to withdraw his church’s financial support of the college. The president of the college deflected the pressure. Instead of standing for justice for the victims, these three entities chose to protect their territory and power structure. They chose silencing truth over-exposing evil. They chose their pocketbooks over the victims’ welfare. They chose to seek the worst for their brother in Christ in order to silence his voice.” (Taylor, Joy S., A View from the Pews — The Inside Story of a Broken Church, 2022, Lily of the Valley Publishing, Santa Claus IN, p. 62.)
