“The tone of the meeting deepened as the topics became personal and pointed. My Celebrate Recovery friend stood again to say he had heard that White Flag Christian Church had stopped funding St. Louis Christian College, pending their firing of Professor Lay. Steve’s brother was the pastor at White Flag Christian Church, so the question struck home. He now had to deflect any responsibility for the decision to cut funding from himself and FCCF. Steve framed his answer to hide the fact that his brother was putting pressure on the college on Steve’s behalf.” (Taylor, Joy S., A View from the Pews — The Inside Story of a Broken Church, 2022, Lily of the Valley Publishing, Santa Claus IN, p. 88.)
