Behold, an Inward Look at Ourselves

Before You Kiss the Frog…Can We Talk? – 15

Before you enter into a relationship for any reason, you are wise to take a good look at the personality characteristics you bring to the table and how well they interact with those of the other person. Scripture is full of insight on human nature and details character traits, both positive and negative, that affect how we live and relate.

From the book:

“Let’s study together and discover what Scripture reveals about people. Take time to read and reflect on the provided verses that illustrate both ungodly and godly characteristics in behavior and personality. “Behold” means “to see,” as in the act of physically looking at something. It also implies seeing with our eyes and processing what we observe with our minds: ‘To take heed; it indicates greater vividness, expressing more intent and earnest contemplation.’ In a stronger sense, it can mean ‘to perceive,’ which denotes the action of the mind in understanding certain facts about something; hence, to consider.

First, we will study what God says about man’s character, and then reflect on what these words mean for any relationship we may enter.” (Taylor, Joy S., Before You Kiss the Frog…Can We Talk?, Lily of the Valley Publishing Services, 2025, Indiana, p.28.)

Joy S. Taylor is a follower of Christ, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her workdays were spent using the Master of Science in Accounting degree that God graciously allowed at the age of, well, greater than 40. She led a divorce recovery support group sponsored by her church for seven years, and spent more than a decade in leadership roles for Celebrate Recovery, using what God had done in her life to point others to the healing only Jesus gives. Now retired, she concentrates on writing for Jesus from her beloved hickory grove in Indiana, yet devotes some of her time to volunteering for Care Net.
