Are you struggling with depression today? Is it hard to interact with your private world, let alone go out into public awareness? Situational depression from trauma or loss can come in waves that knock us of our course. Hang in there, I feel your pain.

From the book:

“You know, I get the fact that depression sinks in upon us and rips at our core until we are nothing but a heap of not wanting to get out of bed. We don’t want to interact. We don’t have the energy to do what the day requires. We can’t sit up, let alone stand up. I’ve known those days, and I’ve turned off the voice of the Pollyanna personality telling me just live like I’m not
depressed, just step over it, and just think positively. I understand the helplessness in that, and I understand the inactiveness in that, to a point. I’m not talking about clinical depression that needs medical attention. I don’t dare go there. I admit ignorance. I’m referring to the bout of depression brought on by an unfortunate experience. To some extent, we have to go
with what our body is telling us, but there comes a time when we must ask ourselves if we want to continue to stay in the pits or to work our way out.” (Taylor, Joy S., Drops of Joy – A Devotional Journey of Healing, 2026, Lily of the Valley Publishing Services, Indiana, p.16.)

Come and join me on this journey of God’s healing. May a piece of my past lead you to a better future through God’s intervention. Read. Pray. Heal.

Joy S Taylor is a follower of Christ, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her workdays were spent using the Master of Science in Accounting degree that God graciously allowed at the age of, well, greater than 40. She led a divorce recovery support group sponsored by her church for seven years, and spent more than a decade in leadership roles for Celebrate Recovery and Care Net, using what God had done in her life to point others to the healing only Jesus gives. Now retired, she concentrates on writing for Jesus from her beloved hickory grove in Indiana, yet devotes some of her time to volunteering.
