Before You Kiss the Frog…Can We Talk? – 14
Marriage does matter. If it didn’t, God would not have instituted the union between Adam and Eve. He has a plan for marriage, and the closer we come to following God’s outline for marriage, the more successful we will be at initiating and maintaining permanent relationships. Marriage is not a business partnership it is a uniting of body, mind and spirit in covenant bonds.
That is why it is vitally important to approach permanent relationship carefully, thoughtfully and prayerfully. That is why I come from a position of making you aware of the mistakes I made and the painful, lifelong consequences that came from them. This is a little book with a lot of biblical insight.
From the book:
“Before we explore what to consider in a permanent relationship, we should closely examine the ultimate objective.Do we enter marriage thinking we can walk away if things go wrong? I can’t believe that’s the case. Let’s take another proactive step to understand what marriage truly involves before we start questioning what we’ve gotten into. The prince in shining armor, who rescued you from a modest existence and placed you on the pedestal of love, wakes up next to you with morning breath. Similarly, the damsel with long, flowing hair you saved from the evil queen needs a few hours of dedicated effort to present herself respectably each day.” (Taylor, Joy S., Before You Kiss the Frog…Can We Talk?, Lily of the Valley Publishing Services, 2025, Indiana, p.23.)

Joy S. Taylor is a follower of Christ, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her workdays were spent using the Master of Science in Accounting degree that God graciously allowed at the age of, well, greater than 40. She led a divorce recovery support group sponsored by her church for seven years, and spent more than a decade in leadership roles for Celebrate Recovery, using what God had done in her life to point others to the healing only Jesus gives. Now retired, she concentrates on writing for Jesus from her beloved hickory grove in Indiana, yet devotes some of her time to volunteering for Care Net.
