God of all, thank you for the rhythm of my day. It’s in the rumble of the thunder that woke me from sleep. It’s in my steps to the window to see the lightning flash. I feel it in my heartbeat that wakes to see another day. I hear it in the raindrops outside on my deck. I sense it in the clatter of the squirrel’s nails against the trees. You place it in my rising up, my going out, my coming in. It’s there in the friendships that touch my daily journey. Strengthen those relationships today, Lord. May those around me see you in my rhythm of the day–in my mannerisms and quirks, in my smile that greets them and in my love for prayer. Keep it going in my heart and soul. Keep it moving from me to others you bring in contact. Keep revealing yourself through me. Let there be less of me and more of you in all I do through the day. Forgive me when I get in the way of your gospel. Keep me focused on you. I ask these things in the name and authority of Jesus, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:13 ESV)
