Father God, you are the uncaused cause. You are He who was and is and is to come, from eternity to eternity. There is no one like You, the Almighty. You are above all, and yet, You desire a heart-binding relationship with me. You speak to me through the Spirit-inspired writers of your Scriptures. You draw me with the imagery and mystery of your book. You astound me with the revelation and prophecy that ties to historical accounts. I thank You for the promise of John’s vision long ago from a sun-scorched marble isle of exile. The banishment and loneliness could not silence John, called in the spirit and assigned to write your encouragement to the church and to me. Almighty, loving Father, I come to praise you in the name and authority of Jesus, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet saying, ‘Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.’” (Revelation 1:10-11 ESV)
