My flesh gets in the way, Lord. My flesh is no help at all. This aging process constantly battles with my desire to hold my own. It will win one day as the circle of life revolves, and the outcome brings me into your presence. It truly is your Holy Spirit that gives life, abundant life on this side of glory and eternal life once I’m called home. I am blessed to have walked among the stones of a synagogue in Capernaum. Maybe that’s where you spoke of your ascension. I wonder how many of the scoffers then were present for when you returned to heaven. I wonder if they heard God calling them to believe, or if their hearts remained as stone. I wonder in your name above all names. May your glory be revealed according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.

“Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” (John 6:62-63 ESV)
