Holy Spirit, keep my desires in check that I may refrain from prayers of wish lists. Give me the words that show sincerity in my requests for the needs and health of others and myself. Lead me away from frivolous asking and toward prayers that honor and glorify the Father, who loves and provides exactly what I need. I want to pray with understanding and knowledge of who He is. I want to apply the wisdom granted me as I come before the mercy seat with my petitions. He hears and answers. May He be exalted in my prayers in the name and authority of Jesus, according to His good and perfect will. Amen.

“Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, wisdom and knowledge are granted to you.” (2 Chronicles 1: 11b-12a ESV)
