We’ve all been through dry spells, through a lack of something. Maybe it was water, and you thirsted for rain. Maybe it was employment, and you thirsted for work. Maybe it was relationship, and you thirsted for love and acceptance. Maybe it was finances, and you thirsted for solutions. We all know thirst. Lord Jesus, who knows better than you, the one forsaken on the cross? Oh, your haunting words, “I thirst!” Father, I pray the nations recognize that for which we all thirst. We all seek to know and be known, to love and be loved. No one satisfies that basic need but Jesus. No one understands like Jesus. No one fulfills like Jesus. No one accepts and loves like Jesus; and no one knows us better than Jesus. I pray a vision of Jesus appears for everyone who thirsts, no matter the source of scarcity. May we run to receive the living water that quenches every thirst. May we run to Jesus in our dry spell. May we abide with him in our abundance. I pray in the name and authority of Jesus, the giver of living water, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.
“Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4: 13-14 ESV)
