By Myself
I’m all by myself in a great big room.
Shadows of no one’s form but mine fall
Across the wall as I walk to my chair
To open the Book and meet the Groom.
Deeper love has none than Christ for his bride.
I am prepared to meet Him there
Alone, ensconced in my favorite chair.
I read of devotion and sacrifice,
Of faith and love, yet great despair.
My Groom, is so worthy, bold and holy
Fully God, fully man, wholly mine.
To one so faithful, I easily yield
No secret that I am not lonely
Though in a room with only time.
So tick away the hours, filled
With profound beauty and loving grace
Soul in quiet commune, hearts in rhyme.
I am bride of the King, my heart is thrilled to be
Forever loved, forever raised, forever saved.
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” (Psalm 37: 7 ESV)
