Father, your Word bolsters my faith as I study this morning. With the headlines and airwaves full of threatening news, I lean into the encouragement of the Psalms. You are the rock that is higher than I. You are the shelter in the storm of reality. Your promises are steadfast. Your covenant remains true. I will lift my heart and prayers. Help me stand with weakened knees. Let me speak though my voice shakes. Keep me on the path of righteousness and gracious generosity in the name of Jesus, by his authority and according to your good and perfect will. Amen.
“For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries. He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor. The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish!” (Psalm 112: 6-10 ESV)
