So, Lord, we take down the decorations, the lights, the trees, the glittering ribbons and even the nativity scenes on our mantles, because the Christmas season ends and life goes on. Let the message linger in the hearts of those who don’t know you. Let the songs, messages, well wishes and warmth of the holidays leave a spark that ignites the desire to know the reason for the Christmas celebrations, Jesus. Fan them into flame. Lead them to the cross. Let those who are lost see the special relationship we share with you, Lord. Let them desire the wholeness of self-definition in Christ. Change their world view from post-modern madness, or the lie of false teaching to peace and assurance in salvation. I ask these things in the name and authority of Jesus, who kindled a fire that spread throughout the world for the last 2000 years, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1: 6-7 ESV)
