Lord, this powerful prayer that Hezekiah lifted in his illness as he was slated to die moves me to send an entreaty on my behalf. I pray, not because I am ill or distressed in any way. I pray Hezekiah’s sentiment because it is sound and meaningful. Lord, please remember that I have walked before you faithfully with my whole heart. I desire to do what is right in your eyes to glorify your name and give purpose to my own. Lord, grant me your favor and blessing today. Speak to me as I go about my daily rhythms. I pray in your name above all others, Jesus. I pray in your authority greater than any other, according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.
“Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the leader of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord, and I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, hand I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David’s sake.” (2 Kings 20: 5-6 ESV)
