Lord, where would we be if the apostles hadn’t obeyed your telling them to remain in Jerusalem to receive the Holy Spirit? Would they have fled the persecution of Rome and the Pharisees? Would they have missed the great power to witness to your resurrection? Would they have buried their eyewitness accounts and silenced their testimonies on your behalf? To think that they overcame and spent the rest of their lives telling your redemption story! Though they faced persecution and eventually died because of their spreading the gospel and building your church, You gave them courage to persevere because your grace was on them. Oh, Lord Jesus, revive your church today. Let us see a mighty work at your hand to reinvigorate our worship, to reinvest our efforts, and to rekindle the fire of our love for you! Be glorified in the outcome in your precious name and powerful authority. I pray according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.
