Prayer for Today

Oh, Lord, Your Word is relevant for today. Our families are under attack. Adult children are rampantly estranging themselves, building narratives that drive their identity. Siblings pit themselves against one another.  Parents grieve the loss. Grandparents grieve the loss. Grandchildren may not understand the void they feel.

We come today, to lift the family unit for Your blessing and protection. Holy Spirit, please break down the barriers between family members and restore the loving relationships they once knew. We pray for family unity and harmony. We pray for renewed closeness. Lord, grant the spiritual strength it requires to seek and offer forgiveness for past hurts and disagreements. Replace hardened hearts with new hearts, softened to look to You, because You are the answer. You are the intercessor and healer. We pray Your will be done on behalf of families everywhere in the name and authority of Jesus, our Kinsman Redeemer. Amen.

“For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies are the men of his own household. Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.” (Micah 7: 6-7 NKJV)

Her workdays were spent using the Master of Science in Accounting degree that God graciously allowed at the age of, well, greater than 40. She led a divorce recovery support group sponsored by her church for seven years, and spent more than a decade in leadership roles for Celebrate Recovery and Care Net, using what God had done in her life to point others to the healing only Jesus gives. Now retired, she concentrates on writing for Jesus from her beloved hickory grove in Indiana, yet devotes some of her time to volunteering.
