Lord, we confess our tendency to speak before thinking. Give us pause to examine what we say before the words escape our lips and our tongue betrays us. Keep our tongue from evil and our mouths from speaking deceit. Purify our hearts so that only truth comes out. Forgive us where we fail you in this important part of our lives. Holy Spirit, show us the value in always saying what is true. We bring our plea to the mercy seat in the name and authority of Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life, according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.
“But Joseph said to them, ‘It is as I spoke to you, saying, “You are spies!” In this manner you shall be tested: By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here. Send one of you, and let him bring your brother; and you shall be kept in prison, that your words may be tested to see whether there is any truth in you; or else, by the life of Pharaoh, surely you are spies!’” (Genesis 43: 14-16 NKJV)

Joy S Taylor is a follower of Christ, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her workdays were spent using the Master of Science in Accounting degree that God graciously allowed at the age of, well, greater than 40. She led a divorce recovery support group sponsored by her church for seven years, and spent more than a decade in leadership roles for Celebrate Recovery and Care Net, using what God had done in her life to point others to the healing only Jesus gives.
