Prayer for Today

Holy Spirit, thank You for teaching and guiding us to understand and apply the precepts of Scripture. Psalm 119: 27-30 implores You to remove from us the way of lying. It initially sounds out of place, but strikes a note in today’s world of information, misinformation and disinformation. We ask You to also remove us from the way of lying. We can hardly distinguish what is trustworthy. We swing helplessly without the help of the truth of the Word.

Keep our hearts clear and focused upon Your wonderful works. Don’t let us veer to the right nor to the left. Alert us when we stand in the way of lying, whether it is from someone else, or something we would say. Keep us moving in the circle of Your will and along the straight and narrow way of truth. We bring our praise and petition in the name and authority of Jesus, according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.

“Make me understand the way of Your precepts; So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works. My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word. Remove from me the way of lying, And grant me Your law graciously. I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me.” (Psalms 119: 27-30 NKJV)
