Heavenly Father, you are the God who set planets in motion, yet you are the God who seeks an intimate relationship with me. I want to know everything my brain can process about you, and figure out what you, a holy God, faithful and righteous, mean to me. Let your name be known in all the world. Let it be lifted and glorified in this place. Help me understand the answers to my questions and the gravity of who you are.
Who Are You to Me?
Are you some shadowed, distant figure—
Some way-off, unknown deity?
This is a heart and soul encounter.
Just what is it you mean to me?
Then, what am I to you?
Am I a faceless crowd placeholder,
A member of the mass of humanity?
This is a love and truth endeavor
To find out what I mean to you.
You are my Lord and you’re my Savior.
You’re all the standard fare;
And yet you’re more, you’re so much more.
For you are my spirit’s lover,
My soul’s restorer,
As no one else can be.
You are the love of this one’s life.
Before I was, you knew me.
It was you who’d chosen first.
You’ve counted my hairs and pursued me
Till I turned to seek your grace.
Though you own the stock upon a thousand hills,
Still you reach down to lift my face.
I live to honor you.
I pray to give you glory. I bring you only a fraction of the praise you deserve. I consciously choose to follow you as the one true God. Be glorified in the name and authority of Jesus, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.
“Pray then like this:
‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.'” (Matthew 6:9 ESV)
