Prayer for Today

Gracious Heavenly Father, Abba, Daddy, you call your children beloved. You are father to those with living dads and to those whose fathers have died. You are father to the fatherless, even those whose earthly fathers have abandoned them. Thank you for fathers. Thank you for valuing them. Thank you for being their greatest example. Thank you for stepping into fatherless situations and providing the solid foundation on which to build a good and godly life. Thank you for holding the hearts of all of us close to your own. You stand in the shadows to see your word performed. I pray that those who have walked away from families will turn and pick up the banner of fatherhood for the sake of your name. Once a parent, always a parent, the title cannot be discarded, but is forever in your sight. Encourage fathers, today, Lord. Remind them of your promise to walk with them through it all. I ask these things in the name and authority of Jesus, the Son of the One True God, according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen
