Father God, you are holy and righteousness is your byword. You are the God of all flesh. You are in all and above all. Paul uses the words ‘unspeakable’ and ‘indescribable’ when he writes about your beauty and joy. Those words apply in tragedy as well when we have no way to express our reaction to the events. Hear our groans for mercy and peace to spread over those families with loved ones involved in the accident on Table Rock Lake, Missouri. Hear our hearts of love that pour out to them in their shock and grief. Bolster their faith, Father. Strengthen their resolve in their walk with you. Let them tangibly feel your presence and loving touch. Draw them close to your heart and closer together with their families. Point them to Jesus and the eternal hope only he brings. Let Jesus be their strong tower and refuge. Let Jesus be revealed so that many come to a saving knowledge of him through this accident. Turn grief into the joy of your salvation, Father. I ask in the name and authority of Jesus, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.
“Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also.” (Psalm 31:9 ESV)
