Oh, dear God in heaven, this body you’ve given me, far from perfect, failing in stature, aging with every day, cries out for your help. Every day I see more and more evidence of the fall from grace reflected back from my mirror. I see family and friends struggling all around me, and along with me, to maintain what cannot eventually be sustained. Only you have the key, Father. Only you redeem our souls and restore us to a heavenly body, in your perfect will and according to your timing. Until that event, Lord, help me glorify you with my meager offering. Help me keep on keeping on even through the aches, the bouts with illness, the trials of disease in the fallen world around me. Let me look with praise and promise. May I always do the right thing in your sight. May I live up to the price you paid for this broken being. May I always love and give your grace. May I reflect your powerful Spirit living in me to my dying day. May others see Jesus in me. I ask these things in the name and authority of the Christ, according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 ESV)
