Father in Heaven, you are the author of the race I run. You know the outcome, but I still need to put one foot in front of the other down the path of your choice to the end you desire. Keep me focused on my training. Keep me paced just right so that I don’t get ahead of you and take the plans into my own hands. Let me be an influence to those who see me along the route of the race set before me. Give me abundant energy to complete it and obtain the victor’s crown. Surround me with your hedge of protection to keep me from injury and harm. Make the path smooth before me. Don’t let me stumble on the pebbles in the path. I’m not much for speed anymore, Lord, just keep me plodding to the finish line. I ask these things in the name and authority of Jesus, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1 ESV)
