Almighty God, today I pray courage over this city, courage over this state, courage over my country, courage over the nations. I ask for courage to speak your truth. I ask for courage to face our history and learn from it. I ask for courage to face the future boldly in the Gospel. I ask for courage for many to come to a saving knowledge of you. I ask for courage to proclaim you before others. I pray for courage to glorify your holy name. I cannot manufacture courage, Lord. It comes through your Holy Spirit. It comes from living victoriously in the Spirit, knowing it is the same working power alive in me that raised Christ from death. Thank you for your powerful arms that uphold me. Thank you for the wisdom you impart. Thank you for your strength that keeps me going. I praise you in the sweet and precious name of Jesus, who is your only Son and my Savior, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.
“…remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places…” (Ephesians 1: 17-20 ESV)
