Father God, believers have known for a long time that judgement and wrath will come. For many years of my faith it seemed way off in the future, maybe past my lifetime. But times are changing before my eyes, accelerating to the conclusion only you see and schedule. I sense the world spinning faster, threats more real and earthly groaning more prevalent. I sense the promise of your coming more intensely; and I hear your Spirit prompt me to prepare, like Joseph did for Egypt and Nehemiah did to rebuild Jerusalem. Just as John cried out, “Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight!” Prepare my heart to take courage for what comes. Prepare my mind for the tragedy around me. Prepare my body to serve my family, neighbors, brothers and sisters. Prepare my soul to meet Jesus face-to-face. Holy Spirit, prepare the lost and draw them to know Jesus before it is too late. I ask in the name and authority of Jesus the Christ, according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.

“Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight!” (Matthew 3:3 ESV)
