A dear friend messaged me and used the term ‘fractured’ to describe what happened to FCCF. My first reaction was total agreement for the appropriate use of a word I had not connected with what happened. The church was fractured into pro, con and gone categories. Families and friendships were fractured in the process. Most of all, the lives of the victims and their loved ones fractured like Humpty Dumpty shards that may not all come together again, but for the healing grace of Jesus.

“My intent is not to retry the case but to show the seriousness of it and the ramifications of the shock waves spreading from it. Brandon Milburn received a sentence of twenty-five years on each of the seven counts to be served concurrently. The church received a jarring wound that divided the congregation and crumbled the very foundations of its megachurch status. The victims and their families are going through a lifetime of recovery because of Brandon’s actions.” (Taylor, Joy S., A View from the Pews — The Inside Story of a Broken Church, 2022, Lily of the Valley Publishing, Santa Claus IN, p. 59.)
