Before You Kiss the Frog…Can We Talk? – 16
Let’s dive into the categorized questions in regards to this special person in your life. The analysis takes some effort and introspection to decide beforehand what traits you would like to see in the other half of your permanent relationship. That includes writing down what they are and discerning if your special person actually epitomizes those traits. Then twist the script to make sure these traits will work well with your own twists and traits.
From the book:
“The mention of gene pools turns my attention to personal traits of interest in your prospective partner. Before starting the questions in this chapter, list the preferred personality traits you want to see in your future spouse. While at it, list those you don’t believe go well with your personality and may want to stay away from in a permanent relationship.
Review this list periodically and update the entries. Your preferences may change as you get older, especially if you are twenty or younger when you first write them down. What you find attractive and inspiring at twenty may seem trivial as you approach your late twenties. Keep it handy as you enter new relationships.
Now, add the traits that annoy you the most- those traits that affect you like fingernails on a chalkboard. You might look it over, comparing it to your current person of interest, and think, ‘Oh yeah, I really don’t like that teeth-sucking sound they make regularly.’” (Taylor, Joy S., Before You Kiss the Frog…Can We Talk?, Lily of the Valley Publishing Services, 2025, Indiana, p.39.)

Joy S. Taylor is a follower of Christ, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her workdays were spent using the Master of Science in Accounting degree that God graciously allowed at the age of, well, greater than 40. She led a divorce recovery support group sponsored by her church for seven years, and spent more than a decade in leadership roles for Celebrate Recovery, using what God had done in her life to point others to the healing only Jesus gives. Now retired, she concentrates on writing for Jesus from her beloved hickory grove in Indiana, yet devotes some of her time to volunteering for Care Net.
