Truth Rules

Before You Kiss the Frog…Can We Talk? – 18

Kiss the frog cover

A relationship without truth at its base topples easily. The aftermath exposes broken hearts and creates feelings of betrayal. Please, take the time to observe truth and non-truth in action within your relationships before you allow them to get serious. In the process, make sure you speak truthfully and act faithfully in every interaction, no matter how pressured you may be to do otherwise.

From the book:

“How highly do you value truth? Coming from my codependent self, who found it hard not to say exactly what I thought would make me more likeable at the moment, truth is highly important. I found myself lost in the lie of people-pleasing behavior. In making myself into what others wanted, I lost myself. In learning God’s truth and who He says I am, I found the confidence to be the best me God could make of me. I find that I can’t go wrong if I speak truth. I want those involved in my circle of influence to speak the truth to me, even if it is hard on me. He who is perfect in this cast the first stone at me, because I fall short of perfection and strive for excellence here instead.

Ephesians 5:6 NIV ‘Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. THEREFORE, DO NOT BE PARTNERS WITH THEM.’ (Emphasis is mine.)

• Has this person earned your respect?
• Has this person ever lied to you?
• Has this person ever lied to her/himself?
• Have you ever witnessed this person lying to anyone else?
• Have you confronted this person for being untruthful?
What was their reaction?”

Her workdays were spent using the Master of Science in Accounting degree that God graciously allowed at the age of, well, greater than 40. She led a divorce recovery support group sponsored by her church for seven years, and spent more than a decade in leadership roles for Celebrate Recovery, using what God had done in her life to point others to the healing only Jesus gives. Now retired, she concentrates on writing for Jesus from her beloved hickory grove in Indiana, yet devotes some of her time to volunteering.
