I liked Mark Driscoll back in the day. He seemed so personable in his outfits that may have qualified for a less than business casual rating. However, his preaching soured as his self-made empire crumbled. From the book:

“Mark Driscoll, a formidable figure in patched jeans accented by black and white canvas shoes, started the Mars Hill Church as a Bible study he convened in his home. He took that little gathering to the heights of megachurch expectation in an amazing story of growth over eighteen years. He rose to internet preaching fame. Wrote books and gained favor with listeners across the states and church members in what became 15 campus locations of the church in five states that brought in 13,000 attendees weekly.(https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/the-rise-and-fall-ofmars-hill-church/)  Fame brought questions of his plagiarizing someone else’s work in one of his books.” (Taylor, Joy S., Clergy Cover-up Does It Work?,”  Lily of the Valley Publishing Services, 2024,Indiana, p.50.)
