Oh, Lord, I’m so easily distracted! The pressure of daily tasks, shocks from current events, wrangle over ideologies and theologies just get in the way of my seeking you. Sorry, Lord, no time right now to read your love letter. Oops, got to run…I’ll finish this prayer later. I’ve just got to pay this bill before I break open the Bible. Forgive me, Father. My priorities are out of order. Remind me of your promise that all this extraneous stuff falls into place when I look to you, first. Lead me to the Scripture for the day. Open my eyes to how you work in my life. Reassure me that you are in control and know where time and matter come together, let alone what happens in my future. Speak to me again of how you have a purpose for my time today, a purpose for my best interest and not my harm. Show me the road less traveled. Direct me in leading others to the narrow gate. I ask these things in the name and authority of Jesus, who focused all he had on the cross, according to the good and perfect will of the Father. Amen.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV)
