“A sign! Give us a sign!” cry the nations. Something. Anything. O, Father, forgive our unbelief. The virgin appeared. The crier in the wilderness heralded the Lamb. The miracles spoke of his glory, the resurrection of his holiness. Open our eyes. Soften our hearts. Prepare our souls. Salvation is here. Let us look only to your truth and cling to its promises. We hope in Jesus, the Messiah. You gave us the sign we crave. Point us to it relentlessly. Don’t let us take our eyes off the joy of your salvation. We praise you for your flawless plan. Thank you for holding us fast within it. Shine your glory across the nations and let them see afresh. Be glorified in the outcome. I pray in the name and authority of Jesus, the Son of God, according to your good and perfect will. Amen.

“Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7: 13-14 ESV)
