Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, we come to thank You for inspiring the writings of Paul. Though his travels took him far and wide. Though he was shipwrecked and imprisoned by the Romans, he remained obedient to diligently teach Your gospel. This verse, one of his least complicated, bears so much insight. Paul personally signed his letter, and the threat of the chains upon him did not hamper his message. He asked only that we remember his imprisonment. He was set to state his cause before the Romans.

With all this swirling around him, he spoke grace over those who were to read his writing, and over the churches who would hear. He wrote the inspired words. You spread them everywhere and keep them alive and pertinent today. May we take heed of Paul’s boldness and obedience as we study. May we remember his dire circumstances as he wrote. May we imitate Your grace that filled his heart. We bring our thanksgiving for Paul’s contribution of Scripture in the name and authority of the Savior he preached, Jesus, according to Your good and perfect will. Amen.

“This salutation by my own hand—Paul. Remember my chains. Grace be with you. Amen.” (Colossians 4: 18 NKJV)
