Today is a beautiful day, because God schooled King Ahab on trusting the LORD, as Judah was threatened by two opposing kings, “‘Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,’ thus says the … Read more
I liked Mark Driscoll back in the day. He seemed so personable in his outfits that may have qualified for a less than business casual rating. However, his preaching soured as his self-made empire crumbled. From the book: “Mark Driscoll, a formidable figure in patched jeans accented by black and white canvas shoes, started the … Read more
Father, this is a double-edged passage. You made your point that either your people would enjoy the good of the land or be defeated by the sword. The pivot point hinged on willingness and obedience. Give me a heart of willingness and obedience, Father. Increase my sensitivity to hear your Holy Spirit speak and the … Read more
Today is a beautiful day, because Isaiah transferred God’s either-or message to His people, “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. I pray Hezekiah’s sentiment because it is sound and meaningful. Lord, please remember that I have walked before … Read more

Father, the way you weave your Word so that the Old Testament verses point toward the New Testament amazes me. The man asked Elisha how his provision could feed so many, as did the apostles ask Jesus in Matthew 15. Jesus spoke similarly to the apostles before feeding the four thousand. Types and shadows tie … Read more

And Elisha said, ‘Give to the men, that they may eat.’ But his servant said, ‘How can I set this before … Read more
